5as1 Offensive Line Training was started by Kyle Murphy and Tom Blazer in 2018. After some playful banter within the Twitter football world, these two coaches realized they had the same ideas about OL play and decided to do something about it.
Coach Murphy has been coaching for more than 20 years at both the high school and college levels. He is currently the head coach of Pacifica High School in Garden Grove. His journey began as a two-year starter at Edison High School, where he was All-League as a junior and senior, All-Orange County and All-State 1st team as a senior. Kyle was also named a captain his senior year. From Edison, he went to Arizona State University where he was a 3-year starter, All-Pac-10 2nd Team as a junior, All-Pac-10 1st team, 2nd Team All-America, and team captain as a senior. After graduation, Kyle began his coaching career at Edison. There he was the offensive line coach for 10 years, reaching three CIF finals, and helping several OL athletes reach their goal of playing in college. He also coached the OL at California Lutheran University and Pacifica HS. For the past four years he has been working to become the best coach he can in order to help OL athletes become the best version of themselves. He’s accomplished this through education and certifications from some of the people at the forefront of offensive line play and/or sports performance
Coach Blazer is the current assistant head coach & offensive line coach for Pacifica High School. He is a 2007 graduate of Cypress High School, where he was a multi-sport athlete, lettering in both Football & Track & Field, the former of which he earned All-League Honors his Senior year. Coach Blazer has over 15 years of coaching experience: 11 at the HS level and four years in the private sector of Offensive Line Training with 5AS1. He has spent the last four years learning and earning certifications from some of the leading minds in the world of Offensive Line play/sports performance, including Duke Manyweather, ALTIS, & Offensive Line Performance. He has dedicated himself to not only understanding the Xs & Os and technique, but how to truly develop each OL athlete into the most elite version of themselves.

Coach Murphy and Coach Blazer at 5AS1 are everything you could hope for in a top-tier Offensive Line training family. They take their craft seriously and are on the cutting edge of offensive line techniques, training, and philosophy far above many college programs. Their desire to improve and hunger for knowledge enable them to be a coaching dream team that is proven to produce high-quality lineman. The dream of a high school offensive lineman is to play at the top level of high school and eventually get their education paid. With these two coaches in your corner these dreams can become reality. I cannot recommend these two coaches enough as they were pivotal in my career and development as a young offensive lineman. Not only did they develop me for the physical demands of college football but also for the mental battles that being a student athlete requires. As the world of “training gurus” grows, 5AS1 will remain a pillar for successful proven methods of training that enable athletes to unlock their full potential. These two coaches will continue to succeed with their proven methods and adapt as new knowledge enters the Offensive Line coaching space. I am excited to keep these two as mentors throughout my career and I have no question they can help your athlete succeed with their intended training goals.

I played football at Edison High School in Huntington Beach, CA and am currently a sophomore in college playing at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, a D3 college in Terre Haute, IN. In high school I was named Second Team and multi-time First Team all league, was captain my senior year, and named Second Team All County. In college I started 10/11 games my Freshman year, was named Newcomer of the year by my teammates, and started the first 3 games of my sophomore year before suffering a season ending injury. I have been working with 5as1 for about 5 years now and they have played such a pivotal role in my success as an offensive lineman. I’ve learned many different styles of OL play over my nearly 15 years of football, but the style that makes the most sense for me and has worked best has by far been what I have learned from 5as1. What I like most about their style is the focus on how the human body works and integrating that into our play to obtain the best results. The workouts have also helped to improve my mobility and flexibility, which have helped immensely in avoiding serious injury and allowing me to play at an advanced level. Their teaching just make sense, and they do a great job in explaining not only HOW to do something but WHY we are doing it, which is pivotal in understanding the game and playing at a higher level. Working with 5as1 is without a doubt one of the most important decisions I have ever made in my career and they have helped me in countless ways to get me where I am today.
